Puerto Escondido

The nearby town of Puerto Escondido is a 15 minute drive west of Puertecito.
Puerto Escondido is a very laid-back surf-town, with a large community of
foreigners from all over the world. Along with an internationally renowned
surfing competition, this town also boasts the annual Puerto Blues Fest, a deep
sea fishing tournament, art galleries, and varied cultural and dance events.
Salsa classes and language lessons are available in this town as well as a local English newspaper, and great international cafes and restaurants. The current
population of Puerto Escondido is 50,000 people.

Puerto Angel, Zipolite, San Augustinillo, Mazunte, Ventanilla

This strip of Mexican towns is located approximately 15 minutes east of Puertecito and offer many varied and interesting attractions. From the turtle research and protection centre in Mazunte to surfing lessons in San Augustinillo, and from the
eco-tourism horse-back riding tours in Ventanilla, to fresh fish markets on the beaches of Puerto Angel, there are many nice day trips which are easily
accessible from the Puertecito homes.

Huatulco

The resort town and cruise port, Huatulco, is also just a 90 minute drive from Puertecito. Huatulco is a very charming town, with a golf-course, several
beautiful beaches, a resort district, and a very full cultural calander.

Oaxaca

A few kilometers from Puertecito a new highway is under construction which
will connect the lots to Oaxaca city by a short 90 minute drive. Oaxaca City, is located in the mountains and is a Mexican cultural centre. Attractions include
the Galaguetza festivities, Day of the Dead celebrations, cobble-stone streets,
old cathedrals and Zapotec ruins.
